Celebrating 95 Years

On June 16, 1928, hundreds of visitors gathered on the lawn of the 1838 Overholt home and commemorated the opening of a new historic site dedicated to the rich history of Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. 95 years later, to the day, we will gather again to commemorate this milestone.

At 6 p.m., hear remarks from our co-executive director. Then enjoy a variety of fun activities:

  • Enjoy a pie and ice cream social and lawn games in front of the Overholt home.
  • Have tea from the Summer Kitchen/ John Proctor Tea Room just like visitors in 1928.
  • Visit the 1838 Overholt Homestead and the springhouse, the birthplace of Henry Clay Frick.
  • Stop by the Educational Distillery, which will be selling speciality cocktails and Monongahela Rye Whiskey.
  • Explore our exhibit about workers at West Overton in the Museum
This celebration is free and open to the public. Instead of admission, we ask that attendees make a donation of any amount that will go toward installing an elevator in the Museum.
