About the Book:
Like most teenagers, fifteen-year-old Will Marshall finds his relationship with his family at a crossroads. His parents care more about their careers and his bratty, eleven-year-old sister Madi. All Will wants is to be left alone, especially during his summer vacation. But the day Madi secretly unearths an ancient necklace buried beneath an old chicken coop and places it around her neck…
Impetus Existence unfolds.
A monumental force awakens the sinister Mr. Fink, and Madi is given an extraordinary gift: a camera. With a turn of a key and a press of a button, a gateway of time opens, and life for the siblings take an unexpected and twisted turn…150 years into the past.
While they search for a way back home, Will and Madi encounter kindness in refuge and witness hostility in the horrors of the American Civil War. As they dodge the brutal battle, Mr. Fink emerges, yet again, and along with his NEFARION force, captures Madi.
In the quest to get his sister back, Will uncovers the secret society of the NEVES and learns that Madi lies in the crossfire of a subcultural war. Steadfast without choice, can Will discover the true meaning of selflessness and save Madi in time?
